What generous of telephoto lens is best for a Pentax Digital SLR?

My husband has a Pentax Digital SLR. I don't really know anything else about it (it's his article, not mine). He has tickets for a golf tournament and wants a telephoto lens to be capable of take pictures of the golfers. I'd like to capture one for him for his birthday, but I don't even know where to start looking. What should I be looking for in a lens? What is a righteous brand? How much should I spend? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!
Answers: Pentax has one for roughly speaking $350 US, it's a 55-300mm f4-5.6 and it has pretty good IQ for it's price. Tamron and Sigma respectively have 70-300mm lenses that cost less but they are of poorer quality the Pentax IQ wise. If you want to spend more for a better lens, Pentax has a 50-135mm f2.8 for $750 US or the alien Tamron and Sigma 70-200 2.8 for about $800 US. There are even more manual lenses that would work but you won't auto focus beside them.

Any Pentax lens will fit your camera. The newest is the DA 75-300mm.
I have a similar lens on my camera and it works a bit well. If the Pentax is a little expensive travel on the Ritz camera site or visit one of there stores. Your husbands camera is a well-mannered one but not very common. But at hand are other lens makers out there.
