What does it stingy when it of late say slr camera body?

Im looking to but a slr camera. Im looking on second hand websites and there aphorism (body only) next to the make and model of the camera. i.e Nikon D40 (Body Only). Can someone describe me what this means? I know you can buy extra lenses for these cameras but I thought you only brought them if you considered necessary better quality pictures i.e closeups etc.
Answers: sometimes people single buy the body of the camera because they already have lenses they can use, or they want to get a seperate lens. I.E. Get the D3000 body singular, but then buy the nikkor 18-200mm lens.

In short, when it says "body only" it does not come beside a lens, and you will have to buy the lens separately.
Body only mechanism just that, no lens, no box, no instructions, and usually no warranty. Just for your information, the Nikon D 40 camera is a digital single lens reflex camera or DSLR.

A "SLR" camera is a camera that uses film and is NOT digital. Source(s): 45 yrs professional photographer
