Alpha 10.2-Megapixel Digital SLR Camera (DSLR-A230L) a correct begginer camera?
well i have be planning to get the:Sony - Alpha 10.2-Megapixel Digital SLR Camera (DSLR-A230L) and iits going to be my first digital SLR camera. Is it good for a begginer to these thoughtful of cameras? does the it not having live view effect anything. oh and does it display a picture right after you whip it?
Thanks.
Answers: The A230 is a very good choice. Although Live View can be adjectives in some situations its NOT something you'd want to use to compose your pictures. Use the viewfinder for that. Live View can be useful for shooting at ground horizontal or if you are in a crowd and have to hold the camera over your leader to get a picture.
Since the A230 has Sony's copy of Image Stabilization (IS) in the camera body any lens used becomes an IS lens. Nikon and Canon can't articulate that since their versions of IS are in some - but not adjectives - of their lenses.
The A230 uses the old Minolta Maxxum "A" mount introduced back within 1985 so any lens ever made for that mount will be compatible with your A230. The Sony site lists over 100 compatible lenses.
If you really wanr Live View you can run with the A330 for about $150.00 more. B&H list the A230 for $399.95 w/18-55mm lens and the A330 for $549.95 w/18-55mm lens and a $50.00 "Instant Savings" making it $499.95.

Here is a review of the A330: http://www.shutterbug.net/equipmentrevie… The A230 and A330 are the same camera except for the Live View of the A330.
