I not long get a nikon D80 Is this a pious camera?
OR should i just return it and go for the nikon d90
hold in mind this is my first DSLR any help would be greatly appriciated
Answers: The D80 is a fine camera near a proven record. You can take great pictures near it. The D90 is a step up the food chain and has improvements over the D80 but as a greenhorn I would say stay with that unless you only just have to have the video and by time you swot and are ready for a better camera body both the D80 and D90 will have be replaced by newer and better yet unmade stuff. Still if Nikon keeps thier long time trend your paraphernalia for the D80 will work on future Nikon cameras.
If you want a detailed breakdown comparison there is a chart starting roughly speaking halfway though this document that compares all the Nikon DSLR to respectively other

Enjoy it and congrats
As your first SLR, the D80 is much more camera than you'll need. You would do well near a D40 or D60, so the D80 is plenty of camera for you. Don't spend even more money on the D90 when the D80 will give you years of use to learn going on for photography and SLR cameras. Money saved towards a new lens (when you're ready) will benefit you much, much more than the D90.
