Digital SLR?
i want to buy a digital slr, and i went to a couple of shops a while ago to get an opinion on some good ones. the main one i be recommended was the Nikon d40x, just wondering if this is a polite camera, and if there are any better ones around the same price collection i should have a look at. I'm in yr 12 and hold been doing photography at school for the second 4 years, but i also want the camera for when i finish school, just to keep hold of it up as a hobby. thanks.

If you are on a budget, you may consider Olympus. Olympus cameras have been call a best value and tend to be a little smaller quantity than DSLR's from some of the others. Check the Sony A200 and the Pentax K10D. Both are 10 megapixels, both enjoy their version of Image Stabilization (IS) in the camera body.
The A200 (and adjectives other Sony DSLR's) can use every Minolta Maxxum AF lens mades since 1985 so you have plenty to choose from if you don't mind used lenses. Since the IS is in the camera body any lens you use will be stabilized.
The K20D can use every manual-focus K-mount lens made since 1975 and the subsequently Pentax AF lenses. Of course, with IS in the camera body any lens you use will be stabilized.
So within are, IMO, 2 worthy contenders for your consideration.
The D40 is OK but just,
